Holding down "S" gives you a shitton of points quick? Is this intended? lol

Neat! I got bored waiting for the counter to reach its limit so I thought about an experiment.

I started two simultaneous games side by side. On one side I wanted to test the efficiency of the Traditional soccer setup - 22 guys chasing after 1 ball. On the other side I turned things around and went with an Avantgarde setup - 1 guy chasing after 22 balls.

Here's a log tracking their progress:

Lazy Kickers: Championship Edition log

Thank you! This is the first research paper about this game.

No, thank you! This was the most scientific thing I've ever done and the most fun I've ever had watching soccer!

I was surprised how well this runs on mobile! Though this is the first game I've ever played on itch.io, so maybe that is normal.

A few suggestions I'd add:

1. Multiplier balls that give bonus points (2x, 3x, 10x) make them different colors or something and add an upgrade that increases the chances of one spawning

2. An accuracy bonus of some sort, maybe a Perfect Shot multiplier or something for hitting the exact center of the goal. This would allow you to add an accuracy upgrade as well.

3. Some sort of prestige mechanic for longevity. Maybe you can cap the number of people or balls on a field and you prestige to a bigger field that can house more people. Or maybe you can run multiple fields at once with different currencies being earned on each. Then you could have some upgrades cost multiple currencies.

Sorry for the super long comment! I just really enjoyed this one and would love to see it improve.

This is great stuff! Thank you!

So this is my final high score. A few moments later I've accidentally crashed my browser 😅

Would love to see more of this

super fun and cute art! love it! more idle games please!

The physical 'simulation' element does some enjoyable things to optimization and communicates the constraints really well. Also, it's pretty cute.

It is truly a work of art. The scrolling introduction and the various animations--with bounces and fire effects--are very nicely done: There is something about those bug eyes and hair styles that makes me laugh.

Also, I reached the end!

Tada!

Yeah, I love the fast forward feature and how the fact that you can still interact with the game during forwarding influences the gameplay and makes it a much more relaxed experience. Sadly, it seems to break when the computer goes into suspend, otherwise I'd be much further by now :D

It caps out at 18Qi anyways because I was too lazy to implement large numbers and just went with 64bit uint :P

So I should be done in a few days then!
[edit] Wait, no, it's Qi, not Qa. So a few more than that 😝

It took me a couple hours to get there. It doesn't really cap too so you can make it spin really fast :P

Hours?? I'm now at 1.07B points per goal and it will take about 16 hours to earn enough for the next upgrade, and that's still a few upgrades away from being able to get to Qis in a single day!

Really great wee idler! I really like the quality of life features such as time speed up after being tabbed out! Really useful for a browser game.

Very polished too, I'd love to see more :)

Mouse is brokey

Mouse is fixey!

Mouse handling is broken on HiDPI screens - with 2x scaling factor, you can only access the top-left quarter of the screen

You can fix this if you zoom out the webpage (for me it's control and scroll wheel down)

Thanks! I'm on it! This is SDL3 (still kinda experimental) on Emscripten (an estabilished absolute mess) but there must be a way to fix this.

Fixed! Fun fact: I had to DISABLE hiDPI support in SDL. Guess is bugged.

Are you sure you haven't forgot about multiplying the event coords by SDL_GetWindowPixelDensity

Oooh! Didn't know about this. Neither SDL_GetGlobalMouseState nor SDL_MouseMotionEvent docs speak of no such thing. Anyways, it works now :P
